Letter from the Editor

For the last year and a half I’ve been writing a book. A little over two months ago, I stopped writing completely.

I had to stop working on it.

By the time I left my house, any issue or concern I had, any open vulnerability or emotional exploration I had experienced, had already been captured on screen.

I was talking too much to myself.

In a sense, I had sequestered my introspective energy away from the people in my life.

I had sponged myself dry, preventing any connection from being formed with another human being, because…

I had given it all to the book.

A little over two months ago, I fell into a kind of shock. Because of advice from a friend, I stopped implementing my writing exercises and I ceased writing the book…

Instead, I began to only do what I felt like doing…

So I learned how to edit film and produce videos.

Now, I’ve gone back to writing again, but it is no longer regimented. I’m back to how I started…

I flow according to my own whim and fancy.

Inspiration can’t be forced, at least not by me…

It takes other people to inspire me, other people to keep me living and learning…

And when I live, I never experience writers block.

The book isn’t even close to being finished. It’s sitting at 130,000 words with more on the way. It’s also gonna go through several hundred more edits before its done…

I’ll let future Adam worry about all that, because right now, I want to share the reason I am posting this update.

Today marks a new phase of development…

This week, I begin working on production for the U.I. Minds Eye social media app.

I’m gonna learn how to draw so I can draft out blueprints for the design.

I’ll need to re-format and arrange all of my notes into a cohesive presentation.

I’ll have to develop a film, or a slideshow, for pitching the idea to potential investors.

And, I’ll have to begin the process of querying software developers to get a quote on how much money a prototype would cost to build.

Although it reads as a lot, to me, it doesn’t feel like work.

I want to do it.

I’m excited for it.

I’m also nervous a bit too, a little bit scared…

I’ve never tried to sell, or pitch, any of my ideas to people that could potentially help make them happen…

I’ve never really submitted myself to rejection before; and, because of the atmosphere I’ll be entering, I’m assuming to receive it. At least at first…

But then I’ll learn and get better…

Just like everything I’ve ever tried, the more I do, the more I learn, and the better I become.

I’m not trying to brag or anything…it’s just, like, human nature. We evolve.

So…

In honor of evolution, I’ll be releasing an excerpt from my book each day this week.

I’m going to start with the last narration I wrote before “ending” the production of “A Glance Inside the Minds Eye”(My Novel)…

Then each day afterwards, I’ll pick out something that will frighten me to share, and let y’all have it…

All of the posts will go up on this website, and, if I gather enough courage, I’ll share each excerpt as a status on Facebook.

Check out the site if you haven’t yet, there’s a ton of awesome content featuring some incredible artists from our community…

And, as always, if you have something you’ve written, I’d love to publish it on the website.

More on the way…
